Change the length of a text variable

Overview

The maximum number of characters that can be entered for a text variable is specified in the length field.

Required Role(s)

  • Project Management

Steps

  1. Open the Variable Update window (click here for steps)
  2. Select the Attributes tab
  3. The Length field has the maximum number of characters that can be entered 

  4. Edit or enter a value between 1 and 256

  5. Select Continue

  6. Select Save or Save and Return to save the changes to the variable group


Notes

  • If data has been entered for the variable, the length can only be increased
  • If the project is in test mode, the test data can be bulk deleted to clear the audit trail which will allow all changes
