Set up a Discontinuation Date

Overview

A discontinuation date defines the date a subject is no longer actively particpating in a study.  Entering a date for this system variable will indicate that a subject is discontinued in the header of the Subject Overview page and his subsequent encounters will not come up as due.

Steps

  1. Open the Variable Groups page (click here and follow steps 1 - 3).
  2. Create a new variable group in the Project Variables section by clicking the green +  next to Project Variables
  3. Enter a name for the variable group (e.g. Discontinuation)
  4. Select Variables in the left panel
  5. Add a new variable (e.g. Discontinuation Date)
  6. Select Date for the Variable Type
  7. An atttribute Is Discontinuation Date will display as long as a discontinuation date is not already defined
  8. Check the attribute Is Discontinuation Date
  9. Change the Required attribute to No 
  10. Select Continue
  11. Add additional variables related to the discontinuation (e.g. Discontinuation Reason)

  12. Select Save or Save and Return to save the changes to the variable group
