Add a Missing Value Definition to a numeric variable

Overview

A missing value is used to indicate that the question was not missed but there is no data for the question.  The form will show complete if the missing value definition is entered, however, the missing value (by default) will be excluded from data analysis, with an option to include the missing values.  If the variable is used in any calculations or skip logic, click here to review how the missing value is treated.

Steps

1. Open the Variable Update window (click here for steps)
2. Select the Missing Values tab
3. Click on the green + icon to add a missing value

4. Enter a Begin Value, End Value and Name

   The Begin Value and End Value are usually the same

   Be sure the missing value can never be an actual data value 

5. Select Continue
6. Select Save or Save and Return to save the changes to the variable group
