Set a variable group to inactive

Overview

Variable groups that have data collected cannot be deleted.  If data will no longer be collected, the variable group can be set to inactive.  This retains the subject data in the database but the variable group is not displayed on the data entry pages.

Required Role(s)

  • Project Management

Steps

  1. Open the Variable Group Update page (click here for steps)
  2. Select the Attributes tab in the left panel
  3. Uncheck the box for Active
  4. Click Save or Save and Return

Notes

  • Variable Groups that cannot be set to inactive have one or more of their variables used in an interval expression
  • The usages need to be removed before the variable group can be set to inactive
