Variable Update (Missing Values)

Overview

The Missing Values tab of the Variable Update window is used to define missing values for numeric variable types.  Missing values are used so as to not leave a field blank during data entry and still be able to distinguish it during analysis as not real data.

Content

• Begin Value: The beginning value for the missing value

  The missing value can be outside the range of the Minimum and Maximum specified on the Attributes tab for the variable

• End Value:  The end value for the missing value

  The End Value can be the same as the Begin Value

• Name:  The name for the missing value (e.g., Unknown, Refused, Unable to obtain result)
