Overview

The Variables tab lists all the variables defined in the variable group.

Content

  • D.O.:  The display order of the variables

    The display order can be superseded by the Layout, variables in the layout are displayed first followed by variables not in the layout using the display order. 

  • Variable Name:  The name of the variable
  • Description: An optional description of the variable
  • Code: A variable identifier that must be unique throughout the project
  • Type: The type of variable (e.g., numeric, text, pick list)
  • Exp.: Indicates if the variable's value can be exported
  • Req.: Indicates if the variable is required in data entry for a complete status
  • Allows Null: Indicates if the variable can be left blank in data entry
  • Icons: The 3 icons are Find Usages, Copy, and Delete

Actions

Add a new variable

 

Edit a variable by clicking on the Variable Name

Find where the variable is used

Copy a variable

Delete a variable by clicking on the Delete icon  

If a variable cannot be deleted it will have a gray delete icon , click on the Find Usages icon  to see the usages
