Overview

This page describes how to delete a subject from the database.

Deleting a subject removes the subject from the database.

Required Role(s)

  • Subject Management
  • Project Management (**only if Encounters to delete or subject to be removed from other Projects)

Steps

Subject NOT assigned (i.e., enrolled or screened) in any Project
  1. Navigate to the Subject Overview page for subject to delete (e.g., search for them from the Home page)
  2. The toolbar will contain a Delete Subject button which when clicked will delete the subject.

    If the Delete Subject button is not enabled that indicates the subject is enrolled in at least one other project and CANNOT be deleted without first being removed from ALL Projects (Note: You may not have access to all the Projects to which the subject is enrolled!)



To get a list of subjects that are not assigned to any project:

  • Select the Subject Search tab on the Home page
  • Select All Projects in the project selector box of the toolbar
  • Click Search in the Filter panel (right side)
  • Click on Project in the center panel to sort the list by project name
  • The subjects not enrolled or screened in any project will be listed at the top
Subject enrolled or screened in only one Project

If subject has Encounters

Must have Project Management role.

The subject must first be Removed from Project(s), then the Delete Subject button will be enabled on the Subject Overview page.

Note: You may not have access to all the Projects to which the subject is enrolled!


If subject has NO Encounters or is "In screening" phase of study:

  1. Navigate to the Subject Overview page for subject to delete (e.g., search for them from the Home page)
  2. Click the Un-enroll or Un-screen icon (far right-hand side, below toolbar)
  3. Click the Delete Subject toolbar button

Subject enrolled or screened in multiple Projects

If the Delete Subject button is not enabled and the subject does NOT have any encounters, that indicates the subject is enrolled in at least one other project and CANNOT be deleted without first being removed from ALL Projects (Note: You may not have access to all the Projects to which the subject is enrolled!)

If the subject is able to be removed from ALL other projects, then follow the "Subject NOT assigned to any Project" above.
