The Portal Options tab of the Interval Update page sets the options to control how subject portals will behave with regards to the intervalwhen encounters are available to create, view, and edit in the subject portal.

If no forms on the Variable Groups tab are marked as Subject Accessible, then the Portal Options will only have the Subject can view this encounter section.
- Subject can view this encounter
- Controls how long subjects have read-only access to the forms marked as subject accessible.
- If Specify is selected, the time is based on when the encounter was created.
- Intervals without any subject entered forms will default to Always. The reason is to allow subjects to go to an encounter to view subject reports even if there aren't any subject entered forms. Subjects will not see any non-subject entered forms at any time.
- Subject can create this encounter
- Indicates how long a subject can create a new encounter
- At Baseline, specify does not apply as there is no due range. A Baseline encounter will always be due until it occurs, as you can't continue in the Timeline without a baseline.
- Send Due Notification
- Applicable only if subjects can create the encounter (Always or Specify is selected)
- At the beginning of the due range an Encounter Due notification is emailed to the subject
- At the target due date of the encounter, a second Encounter Due notification is emailed to the subject if the encounter has not been created
- Subject can edit this encounter
- Controls how long subjects can edit the forms marked as subject accessible
- It If Specify is selected, the time is based on when the encounter is created, not always the same as the encounter date
