Check the box Is Discontinuation Date on the Attributes tab in the Variable Update window of a Project Variable with a Date Variable Type.  The Is Discontinuation Date field will only display if there is no other variable already marked as the discontinuation date and the variable type is a Date.

Overview

A discontinuation date defines the date a subject is no longer actively particpating in a study.  Entering a date for this system variable will indicate that a subject is discontinued in the header of the Subject Overview page and his subsequent encounters will not come up as due.

Steps

  1. Select Projects from the main menu
  2. Click on the project name
  3. Select the Variable Groups tab in the left panel
  4. Create a new variable group in the Project Variables section
  5. Enter a name for the variable group (e.g. Discontinuation)
  6. Select the Variables tab in the left panel
  7. Add a new variable (e.g. Discontinuation Date)
  8. Select Date for the Variable Type
  9. An atttribute Is Discontinuation Date will display as long as a discontinuation date is not already defined
  10. Check the attribute Is Discontinuation Date
  11. Change the Required attribute to No
  12. Select Continue
  13. Add additional variables related to the discontinuation (e.g. Discontinuation Reason)
