Overview 


The Timeline view has a tabular display of study visits/encounters and includes various display options and filters.


Content 


The Timeline View contains all the fixed encounters, and the non-fixed encounters that have occurred.  The encounter is color coded to show the encounter's status.  The Timeline settings can be used to customize the display.  Encounters that have occurred are accessed by clicking on the date.  Encounters that have not occurred are accessed/entered by clicking on create.

Timeline Settings


  • Hide/Show Range Rows:  this button will toggle between showing and hiding the Before/Target/After rows
  • Hide/Show Project column:  this button will toggle between showing and hiding the Project column
  • Zoom buttons
    • Reset zoom:  will set the Timeline display back to the original setting
    • Zoom in:  will zoom in on the Timeline to enlarge the text
    • Zoom out:  will zoom out on the timeline to reduce the text and display more columns and rows
  • Filter:  select to choose which encounters to display
    • All:  displays all fixed encounters (occurred and not occurred), and non-fixed encounters that have occurred
    • Active:  displays fixed encounters that are due or have occurred, and non-fixed encounters that have occurred
    • Active (fixed);  displays fixed encounters that are due or have occurred (non-fixed encounters are not displayed)
    • Needs Attention:  displays encounters that are missed or have an incomplete or unknown completion status
    • Fixed:  displays all fixed encounters (occurred and not occurred)
    • Non-Fixed:  displays all non-fixed encounters
  • Sort:  select how to sort the displayed encounters
    • Date:  sorts by the encounter date in ascending order (latest to earliest)
    • Date (descending):  sorts by the encounter date in descending order (earliest to latest)
    • Before:  sorts by the Before date (the date when the encounter becomes due) in ascending order
    • Before (descending):  sorts by the Before date in descending order
    • Target:  sorts by the Target date (the due date of the encounter) in ascending order
    • Target (descending):  sorts by the Target date in descending order
    • After:  sorts by the After date (the last day when the encounter is due) in ascending order
    • After (descending):  sorts by the After date in descending order
  • Paging Options:  specify the number of items per page and number of pages to display
  • Increase / Decrease Timeline:  select to increase / decrease the height of the timeline display



 Timeline rows


  • Top row is the interval name
  • Date: the encounter date
    • A date is displayed only if the encounter has occurred
    • The encounter date will default to the date the encounter was started but can be modified
    • Encounters that haven't occurred but can be created will display create
  • Status:  
    • Due (orange)encounters are Due within the Before and After date
    • Missed (pink): encounters are Missed when the Latest date is passed and the encounter has not occurred
    • Not Due (gray):  encounters are Not Due prior to the Before date
    • Complete (green):  encounters are Complete when all the required data has been entered
    • Incomplete (yellow):  encounters are Incomplete when all the required data has not been entered
    • Unknown (pink):  encounters with an unknown completion status (either a change was made after data was entered, or the page was not opened and contains branching logic)
    • The complete/incomplete status of an encounter is based on the completeness of all the forms collected within the encounter
  • Reports
  • Before:  The projected date minus the Before Target Range specified in the interval
  • Target:  Calculated by the Target Length specified in the interval and the actual Baseline encounter date.  It is the Baseline encounter date plus the Target Length
  • After:  The projected date plus the After Target Range specified in the interval
  • Variable Group / Form names:  each form is in its own row and color coded to indicate its status
