When entering data, a form will show incomplete due to one of the following reasons:

  1. A variable marked as 'required' in the setup does not have a value
    1. By default, an asterisk is displayed next to 'required' variables (does not apply to subject portal)
    2. The asterisk can be turned off in the project setup.  The variable is still considered 'required'.
    3. A 'required' variable that is disabled or hidden will not affect completion status
  2. A variable that is a heading or note is marked as 'required'
    1. This is usually a setup error
    2. There are times that a note may display and intentionally be set up as 'required' to keep the encounter incomplete
  3. The dependency/skip pattern has an error, for example, hiding a variable and then making it enabled.  The variable is hidden and not visible when entering data, however, since it is enabled it will affect completion status
