Overview

Filters are used to limit the subjects that are included in a data set or workspace.

When a new filter is created, a window Select an Output Interval displays.  The options that can be selected include Data Entry Intervals or Do Not Use Intervals.  If the filter will only be based on Universal or Project variables, select Do Not Use Intervals.  If the filter will include any encounter variables, select Data Entry Intervals.  If you are not sure whether the filter will include encounter variables, select Data Entry Intervals which will give access to all variables in the project.  If Do Not Use Intervals is selected the encounter variables will not be available for use in the filter.
