Overview
A non-fixed interval is used for data collected over time without a pre-determined schedule (for example: clinic e.g., clinic visits, surgeries).
Required Role(s)

- Enter a name for the interval
- The Active box is checked by default indicating the interval is active
- Uncheck the Fixed Interval box
- Select the Interval Type
- Follow-up
- Screening
- Select the units for the target length from the drop down box
- Enter the Before Target Range and Enter the After Target Range
Info The Before and After Target Range values determine the Earliest and Latest projected dates for data entry value determines the time period when subjects can access the encounter.

- Check the box for Allow Subjects To Create if subjects can create the encounter.
Info This option only displays in projects with the Subject Login feature enabled
- Check the box for Include in Followup Schedule to include completed encounters in the Event Schedule section of the subject portal, which lists the schedule for all fixed encounters. When the Include in Followup Schedule is not checked the non-fixed encounters will be listed in their own section grouped by interval name.

- Optionally enter instructions for the subject that will display when they enter this encounter.

Variable Groups tab
- Mark the checkbox in the Include column for the variable groups that will be collected at this interval
- Mark the checkbox in the Entered By Subject column for variable groups that will be entered by the subject

Interval Expression tab
- Enter a dependency that is specific to this interval
- Enter a dependency that goes across variable groups
Tip Dependencies that are specific to a variable group are entered on the Dependencies tab of the Variable Group Update page
