Hide the required indicator on the variable group

Overview

The default is to display an asterisk ( * ) next to each variable set up as ‘required.’ The asterisk can be removed for selected variables (see steps here) or for all the variables on the variable group (steps below). Changing the attribute so the asterisk is not displayed does not have any effect on the ‘required’ status of the variable. Missing values from required variables will still show the variable group as incomplete. If the variable group has a tabular layout, it may look less busy if the asterisks are hidden, however, there may need to be a note added so users know the variables are required.
